Oh Neglected Blog, what is going on at A Lovely Start...

Yes, I am still around!  Things have been busy at A Lovely Start these days.  If you are on Facebook, be sure to hop over to our fan page.  Things are always hoppin' over there!  That is where to be to get all the notices about stockings and lots of special offers, sales and auctions!

You can find A Lovely Start stocking regularly at Bitty Fluff on the 1st and 3rd Fridays of the month and A La Mode on the 15th of the month on Hyena Cart.  My own poor Cart has been neglected, but I hope to get a regular monthly or bi-monthly stocking date happening for it as well in the New Year.

I also have a New Years goal to get back to blogging regularly as well.  In addition to highlighting the items I am working on, I would like to write some general Cloth Diapering and other posts that represent me, my philosophies and my business, as well as answer some common questions I get.

I have been working on some things for a really sweet mama and her adorable little girl. Here are the first couple items I have ready.

I have done several recycled wool projects lately, which I love to do so much! There is something so satisfying about 'saving' a sweater from the wasteland and creating cute wears that have real function for our little ones. I have several more of these currently on the go, but here are the ones I have now completed.
These medium flared bottom woolies are so cute with a leather trim along the bottom. I have some adorable wool and leather slippers on the go to match these!
Bright blue longies and orange with charcoal waistband. These have nice high rises!

A pair of nice light weight shorties for playing in the sun on a warm summer day!

These are done from a Patagonia sweater - thick, warm, and bulletproof!
I love how these little rolled cuff shorties turned out. These are super soft!

Fantastic Summer Fleece...

Some new super cute custom shorties and sets for this summer for a great mama! All these fleece shorties have lightly elasticized waists and a diaper hammock.

I really love how these rainbow shorties came out...complete with fluffy minky clouds! Yum!

Fleece and Wool in summer? Why of course!

I hear it all the time since I have started using cloth and sewing my wears... "Isn't it hot for your little ones to wear fleece and wool in the summer?" No way! It is cooler on their little tush then a 'sposie or a PUL pocket or PUL cover as well.

This was on The Diaper Pin a couple years ago and I found it quite interesting. I no longer have a link to the original post, but I had saved a copy and just wanted to share. A mom with a teen did this science experiment (Temperatures in Fahrenheit):

Cloth diaper Temperatures:
4 days in a row the afternoon temp reach almost 90*, each day we tried different diapering combos. Here are his results:
After 15 minutes outside, temp inside the diaper:

Disposables 102.5*
FuziBunz 101.5*
Fleece pocket 100*
fitted with fleece shorts 98.5*
pinned prefold with fleece shorts 97*
fitted with wool shorts 96*

Shorties! Shorties! Shorties!

I've been doing some custom shorties for a sweet mama. These are all made of fleece and are used as a diaper cover. She is using them for night time over fitted diapers. These are large or about a size 2. They are so fun to do and I found a bunch of cute prints the other day. The prints have a sewn in 'diaper hammock' to give a little extra wetness protection.

Wetbags:
All wetbags have a cotton outer layer and waterproof PUL inner layer. They have zipper closure and a sewn on handle.

Wipes Bag = $10 (approx 9" x 6")
Basic Small = $15 (approx 9.5"x11")
Basic Medium = $17 (approx 11.5"x13")
Basic Large = $19 (approx 12.5"x15")
All Day Bag = $22 (approx 14"x20") with snapping handle
Two handle Hanging Diaper pail = $30 (approx 20"x25" with 5" gusset)

Add a snapping handle or close loop handle by request for no additional charge.

Pail Liners: $17
Pail liners are made from PUL with white FOE (fold over elastic) around the top edge. They feature a sewn in cotton patch to add a few drops of Tea Tree Oil or other essential oils.

Looking for a special size wetbag or pail liner? No problem! Just ask and we can work out a price.

Soakers include an extra layer in the wet zone

G-Diaper Snap Conversions:
Remove velcro on little g-pants and replace with polyresin snaps.
Each diaper will have 3 snap settings.

Velcro removed beforehand, save $1/diaper
